Adcare - Anti-Smoking
This is a 7 session anti smoking program run by the Seventh Day Adventist Church in the city, suburbs and country areas. The Quit Now Program is a 7 session, holistic approach to smoking cessation. It takes into account the physical, mental, psychological, emotional, social and spiritual dimensions of trying to overcome nicotine addiction.

Adolescent Drug & Alcohol
The Adolescent Drug and Alcohol Withdrawal Service (ADAWS) offers residential treatment service for young people aged 13-18 years of age who abuse, or are dependent upon alcohol, drugs or other substances. Residential program offers relapse prevention and life skills groups, recreational activities, individual and family counselling and support to access practical assistance which includes housing, Centrelink, health and legal. Average length of stay is 2 weeks. The service is set up in a home like environment.

Alcohol and Drug Information
The Alcohol and Drug Information Service is an anonymous and confidential 24 hour telephone service for anyone in Queensland with concerns about alcohol or other drugs. The Service provides information on alcohol, tobacco and other drugs and information about treatment services available in Queensland. The Service also provides counselling and referral, alcohol, tobacco and other drug publications and consultancy and campaign support.

Alcohol and Drug Service
The Alcohol and Drug Service offers a wide range of treatment options. The goal is to minimise the negative impact of alcohol, tobacco and other drugs through the provision of the following services: BIALA ACUTE CARE SERVICE: (07) 3238 4040 The clinic is open from 8.00am to 8.00pm seven days and provides walk-in assessment for detoxification, ambulatory detoxification services, crisis intervention and family support, brief interventions and management of withdrawals within the City Watchhouse, consultation and liaison with watchhouse and Magistrates Court staff and Police diversion programs. BRISBANE HARM REDUCTION SERVICE: (07) 3238 4047 Clinical services are offered between 9.00am - 5.00pm Monday to Friday with 24 hour provision of sterile injection equipment. Services include counselling and referral for treatment, vein care and safer injection advice, pre and post test counselling and blood screening for Hepatitis B, C, HIV and other sexually transmitted viruses, Hepatitis B immunisations and primary health care for injecting drug users. OPIOID TREATMENT CLINIC: (07) 3238 4080 Operates out of Roma Street Clinic and Melaleuca Clinic Chermside. Services offered at both clinics include assessment, referral and liaison, ongoing medical treatment and case management, range of pharmacotherapies including Methadone and Buprenorphine, individual or group counselling, health promotion, education and information. COMMUNITY TEAMS: (07) 3238 4000 Community Teams provide clinical services between 9.00am - 5.00pm Monday to Friday. Services offered include assessment of alcohol, tobacco and other drug problems, individual and group counselling, counselling and support for families, early identification and intervention, referral and liaison, health promotion, information, education and community development, court and police diversion programs. YOUTH COMMUNITY TEAM: (The Hot House) (07) 3870 9122 The Hot House is located at Aspley and provides a service for young people under 25 years of age. The House offers counselling and support for young people, their families and significant others, education program for parents, school consultation and court diversion programs. INDIGENOUS COMMUNITY TEAM: (07) 3238 4000 The Indigenous Community Team caters for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, offering confidential counselling and referral, community development and outreach, education and training and court diversion programs. ALCOHOL AND DRUG SERVICE LIBRARY: (07) 3238 4050 The Library is a collection of resources specialising in all aspects of substance use prevention and treatment. Facilities include photocopying, audio-visual material and viewing areas and database access. ALCOHOL & DRUG TRAINING & RESOURCE UNIT: (07) 3238 4060 The Training and Resource Unit provides quality training for workers across the state as well as Alcohol and Drug Service staff. This unit provides training and professional development, resource development, tailored alcohol and drug training for organisations, and ongoing seminars with video-conferencing facilities. Alcohol Islander Service
The Queensland Aboriginal and Islander Alcohol Service (formerly known as the Jessie Budby Healing Centre) offers alcohol and drug education, rehabilitation and counselling. The centre is primarily for Aboriginal clients but will accept others. Clients must be drug free except for medical use.

The Alcohol Tobacco and Other Drug Service provides drug and alcohol assessment, treatment, referral, information, individual or family counselling, and telephone counselling. The service also assists with support, education, training, consultation and liaison.

Australian Drug Foundation
The Australian Drug Foundation (ADF) is an independent, non-profit organisation that has worked for over 40 years to prevent and reduce alcohol and other drug problems in the Australian community.

The ADF is a leading provider of drug prevention services accessible to the whole community. Its work focuses on research, information, community development and education, and advocacy.

The APP Guide Online. Since its beginning in 1996 the original online APP Guide has become a popular resource site for pharmacists and doctors around the world. The APP Guide online incorporates extra reference material, such as Australian approved food additive numbers, medicines in pregnancy, patient support organisations, drug combinations and a pharmacological and therapeutic index.

Consumer Medicine Information
Consumer Medicine Information (CMI) is designed to inform consumers about prescription and pharmacist-only medicines. They are produced by the pharmaceutical company that makes the particular medicine. They may be included in the medicine package, but can always be requested from the pharmacist or doctor. The CMI Guide provides information about how CMI can be used by consumers and health professionals to build better relationships to achieve the quality use of medicines.

Drug Arm Services
DRUG ARM provides a range of prevention, rehabilitation and management interventions that support individuals, families and communities to reduce the harm associated with alcohol and other drug use. Programs and services include: * Home Assessment and Response Teams (HART) for support (in home and office, by telephone), assessment, brief intervention and referrals * Street Outreach Services (SOS) * Court Diversion, Personal Support and various youth programs * Education and training * Community development * Public lending library and * Resources for Church communities.

Gillies House
Gillies House is a halfway house for recovering alcohol and drug affected men. The House offers a safe environment while working on a program of recovery. Gillies House is envisioned as the next step along the road to recovery after clients have gone through detox at an approved facility. The House has an individualised program which can provide the resident with the essential skills to begin a new way of living independently in society. Gillies House does not accept aged pensioners or men with physical or mental disabilities.

harm reduction brisbane
Brisbane Harm Reduction Centre is part of the Biala Alcohol and Drug Service. The program provides a 24 hour needle and syringe program as well as blood screening for blood borne viruses, pre and post test counselling and primary health care advice for injecting drug users.

HolyOake General
Holyoake is a not for profit, community based organisation, partially funded by Queensland Health. Holyoake helps people experiencing problems due to another person's alcohol or other drug dependence. Experienced and Professional counsellors provide support, education and skills to improve the quality of your life and relationship with your loved one through Group Programs, and Individual and Family Counselling. Counselling and Program times vary between centres. Please phone for details. Low fees apply.

Hospital - Alcohol and Drug
The Alcohol and Drug Service offers a range of alcohol and drug detoxification treatments. They also act as a referral agency. Assessments for admission to the detoxification unit are conducted from 8am - 8pm 7 days per week, via the Royal Brisbane and Women's Hospital Department of Emergency Medicine

Illicit Drugs Program
The AMEND program provides a home-based relapse and prevention management service to pregnant and or parenting women who experience problems related to their use of substances and who are finding it difficult to access other drug and alcohol treatment services due to their childcare needs. The AMEND program is provided free of charge in the comfort of the woman's own home. The program consists of sessions designed to teach mothers the skills to manage, reduce or stop their drug use while addressing a range of issues associated with high risk of relapse, such as parenting stress, relationship problems, domestic violence, sexual abuse/assault and mental health problems. Clients must have problems related to their own substance use, be pregnant or have dependent children. The AMEND program provides services to women living within a 10 Km radius around Chermside, Greenslopes and Logan Central respectively.

Injectors Health Network
Queensland Injectors Health Network (QuIHN) services provided include a needle exchange service, educational activities and a resource library. QuIHN also offers InHouse outpatient detox services which include individual and group counselling, crisis support, education and specialist referral, education and counselling for significant others, a dual diagnosis group (Maise Program) MODS group (Psychological Education) and Women's Circle child friendly social group.

A service of the US National Library of Medicine and the US National Institutes of Health, providing information on thousands of prescription and over-the-counter medications. Please note that this information has not been produced for Australian consumers and health professionals.

Peel St Clinic General
The Peel Street Clinic provides out - patient treatment for opiate dependent persons as well as assessments, methadone maintenance programs, education, referral services, detoxification referrals and counselling.

Private Detoxif
Abaleen Detoxification Services offers a safe, professional drug detoxification referral service. The service also caters for alcohol detoxification. Abaleen is a non-profit, self-funding organisation, and is run by volunteers. They also have a perma-culture project. A social group for all recovering persons is underway.

Quitline
Quitline is a 24 hour information and support line for people who want to give up smoking. Information about QUIT smoking programs and QUIT kits are available.

Salvation Army Moonyah
Moonyah is the Brisbane centre for the Salvation Army Bridge Program, which provides treatment for alcohol, drug and gambling addictions. The detoxification unit has 12 beds and there are 78 beds for the Bridge Program, the program goes for 43 weeks. The program assists clients to deal with the causes of their addictions. Life skills, work therapy and recreation are integrated into the program. Assessment for admission is available by appointment Monday to Friday from 8.00am to 4.00pm, there is no admission fee.

st vincents drug treatment
Ozcare (formerly St Vincents Community Services) Integrated Drug Treatment Service provides a detoxification program to men 18 years and over who have an addiction to illicit drugs. The support team includes a doctor, registered nurse and support worker who work with clients to achieve better health outcomes.
