Adult Mental Health Services offer a free and confidential service specialising in the treatment of people 18 years and over who have, or are at risk of developing, emotional disturbance or major mental illness. A team of mental health professionals offers medical and psychiatric assessment of existing or possible mental health problems, design and implementation of therapy, case management, family and individual counselling, crisis intervention, and community liaison and education. Their services also cater for emotional disturbance, anxiety disorders, self-esteem problems, eating disorders, social difficulties, psychiatric illness and family and other relationship problems. A Community Outreach Team offers a free and confidential service specialising in the treatment of people 65 years and over who have a mental illness which may or may not be complicated by an age related illness. This service primarily targets severe depressive and psychotic conditions. They can treat people in their own home or in a residential aged care facility. For after hours treatment of an acute mental illness episode or psychiatric crisis contact the Accident and Emergency Department of the nearest Hospital.

AMH - Coorpora

ARAFMI - General
ARAFMI is an Australia wide non Government Organisation providing support, information and skill development for Family Carers of people who have a mental illness and/or psychiatric disability. ARAFMI Queensland offers - - 24 hour phone support for carers by trained volunteers - regular carer support group meetings throughout Brisbane and around the state. Skills development workshops for Carers cover topics on coping skills, suicide intervention skills, loss and grief, effective communication, advocacy and phone support training. Non clinical information kits are mailed on request. Respite services are available to families within the Brisbane City Council area.

Barrett Adolesc
The Barrett Adolescent Centre provides tertiary inpatient treatment for adolescents in the 13 -18 year age group with psychotic disorders, depression, eating disorders or anxiety disorders which have severely impaired their ability to function.

Bayside Child and Youth Mental
Bayside Child and Youth Mental Health Service, QLD Health, offers a free and confidential service specialising in the community treatment of children and youth 0 - 18 years of age who have, or are at risk of developing mental health problems. A range of moderate to severe mental health problems are catered for including early onset psychosis anxiety disorders, depressive illness, trauma, severe behavioural and/or emotional disturbance, eating disorders, suicidality and self harm. A team of mental health professionals offer comprehensive mental health assessments. In addition, therapeutic services, case management, individual and family counselling, crisis interventions and community liaison and education are provided.

Behaviour Resea
The Behaviour Research and Therapy Centre is a clinical facility for adults, children, and their families, who are experiencing behavioural, emotional or health related adjustment difficulties.

Child and family therapy unit
The Child and Family Therapy Unit provides an inpatient facility for clients up to 14 years of age who are experiencing severe or complex mental health problems. The Unit undertakes patient assessment and formulates a treatment plan. The Unit also caters for children and young people to 14 years at risk whose condition demands the safe environment of an inpatient facility. In addition the service provides after hours assessment and support for people to the age of 18 experiencing crisis.

Child and youth mental health
The Child and Youth Mental Health Service offers a free and confidential service specialising in the treatment of children and youth 0 to 18 years of age who have, or are at risk of developing, emotional disturbance or major mental illness. The service is also available to those who are suffering from trauma, living with family members who have a mental illness, and/or who are experiencing severe dysfunction at home or school. A team of mental health professionals offers medical and psychiatric assessment of existing or possible mental health problems, design and implementation of therapy, case management, family and individual counselling, crisis intervention, and community liaison and education. The full range of mental health problems is catered for including emotional disturbance, anxiety disorders, self esteem problems, eating disorders, social difficulties, psychiatric illness and family and other relationship problems. Community Forensic Mental Heal
The Community Forensic Mental Health Service is a statewide tertiary Mental Health Service funded by Queensland Health. It offers specialist clinical and support services relating to the treatment of mentally ill offenders. Referrals are primarily accepted from Mental Health Services. Advice and information is available to all agencies about issues pertaining to forensic mental health.

Community Outreach Inala
The Early Counselling and Community Outreach Program is a specialised mental health early intervention program for children, adolescents, and adults, aged 8-25 years. The program provides assessment and treatment of mental health or emotional problems, with an emphasis on identification and treatment of mental health problems before they become of a severity requiring psychiatric treatment. Assessment and counselling are provided in a setting that is accessible to the young person. Locations used on a regular basis include a local youth accommodation and family support agency and several local schools. Services are accessible to persons and community agencies that are within Inala and surrounding suburbs. Service and referral enquiries can be made through the Inala Child and Youth Mental Health Service.

Crisis Assessment and Treatment Team (CATT)
Provides a 24-hour, seven day a week service used for assessment and treatment of mentally ill people in crisis situations.

CYMHS EHS
The Child and Youth Mental Health Service offers a free and confidential service specialising in the treatment of children and youth 0 to 18 years of age who have, or are at risk of developing, emotional disturbance or major mental illness. The CYMHS EHS is staffed by Mental Health professionals who offer mental health crisis assessment and after hours telephone support for individuals and carers including youth agencies. The full range of mental health problems is catered for including severe emotional disturbance, anxiety disorders, eating disorders, other psychiatric illness, suicidal and self harming, depression, and psychotic illness. The CYMHS EHS also provides limited outreach, youth worker training, agency liaison and community networking. During business hours call your nearest CYMHS clinic to make a referral to CYMHS. Refer to the White Pages Queensland Health listing. From 9.30pm and on Sundays contact your nearest hospital in psychiatric emergencies or call 000.

dementia
The Dementia Helpline Statewide service provides information, support and referral for people with dementia, their carers and families, service provides, students and the wider community. For current details about the nearest carers support groups call the Dementia Helpline. A range of information sheets on various topics relating to dementia are available, as well as a library of dementia specific books and videos.

Grow
GROW is a self - help support group providing a program of personal growth for people struggling with life's circumstances or recovering from mental or emotional problems.

GROW Carindale
The GROW Community House provides long-term accommodation support for 5 adults who are willing to build a caring and sharing community and use GROW's 12 Step Program as a means of developing their personal resources. The GROW Community house is not emergency accommodation.

Integrated Mental Health
The Integrated Mental Health Service, which is the community arm of the Division of Mental Health Services, Royal Brisbane Hospital, has onsite intake and assessment services, a five day pharmacy service, social activities and consumer led activities, a standard case management service and a Mobile Intensive Treatment Team (MIT Team). After hours services are provided by a Mobile Extended Hours service operating seven days a week, and an Emergency Psychiatric Unit based at the Royal Brisbane Hospital.

Just Ask Info Line - Lifeline
Lifelines Just Ask is an Australia wide mental health information service. It provides information and referral for people with mental health problems, and to friends, relatives and others who want to know how to help. Lifelines Just Ask operates 9am to 5pm Monday to Friday. Callers can leave a message on the after hours voice mail system which will be attended to the next working day. The service can also be accessed via the website and email. Caller can find out about relevant local services as well as books, support groups and websites. The service is also available to other members of the community requiring information or resources on a range of mental health issues. Lifelines Just Ask has produced a series of Tool Kits. These free fact sheets are in clear English and have practical tips and self help strategies to help cope with a number of mental health issues. Lifelines Just Ask is not a counselling service. Call Lifelines telephone counselling service on 13 11 14 for 24 hour telephone counselling.

Kui Lifestyle S
Kui Lifestyle Support Agency aims to help people with a psychiatric disability to set and achieve realistic lifestyle goals and to improve their quality of life. The agency encourages and assists people in daily activities such as budgeting, household tasks, hobbies and interests. Support is offered in the home and the wider community to help people with psychiatric disability live independent, rewarding lives.

Mental Health

Mental Health - Advocacy
The Mental Health Association (Qld) Inc encourages communities in which all people are provided with opportunities to optimise their mental health and participate as valued members of society. The Association is a statewide organisation with branches at the Gold Coast, Cairns, Bundaberg and Ipswich. The Association provides a number of services to the community, including: · INFORMATION AND REFERRAL Statewide telephone and e-mail service providing information about mental health issues and services · PUBLICATIONS A variety of information and resources on topics dealing with mental health and related issues is produced by the association including journals, newsletters and information kits and booklets · ON LINE SERVICES incorporating web sites containing news, events, links, fact sheets, current research, policy and access to The Service Seeker, a web based database of services · EDUCATION organise and participate in education and training activities including seminars, workshops and expos to raise awareness and provide information about social and emotional well being. Guest speakers and training on specific topics is available on request · ON THE JOB TRAINING programs are available in various regions. Traineeships take place in local community organisations where participants undertake work in administrations or landscaping according to availability. Mental Health Unit Bris
The Mental Health Unit provides callers with information on processes and policy matters affecting the mental health of individuals and their carers.

MHATODS
MHATODS offers an integrated mental health and drug and alcohol service to young people detained in the Brisbane Youth Detention Centre (BYDC). Young people's involvement with the Service is voluntary and it offers them the same quality of professional services which would be available to their peers in the community. Uniquely in Queensland, it also offers both mental health and substance abuse treatment in one integrated service usually with the same therapist involved. Referral can be made by staff of BYDC, Child Safety Officers, Juvenile Justice workers, family members and Child and Youth Mental Heath Service workers. MHATODS has a multidisciplinary team consisting of consultant psychiatrist, social work, psychology, indigenous health staff and admin support. MHATODS has a strong commitment to ensuring clinical follow up where required for young people on their release from detention and has strong links with the Child and Youth Forensic Outreach Service whose role it is to facilitate that transition.

Multi Centre for Mental Health
The Multicultural Centre for Mental Health and Well Being Inc (formerly known as Ethnic Mental Health Program) provides information to people from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds, their families and carers about Mental Health, Mental Illness & Mental Health Services. This is a free and confidential service. The Program provides support for people with mental illness, their families and carers. It links these people with mainstream mental health services. The Program also promotes mental health and prevention via group activities.

National Employment
The National Employment and Psychological Services Centre is an employment agency providing assistance to people with a disability. The service specialises in employment support to people with a psychiatric disability. Services provided include vocational assessment, vocational counselling, assistance with job search, preparation of resumes, enhancing interview techniques and on-the-job support. The agency is committed to increasing community education and awareness of mental health issues in the workplace. NEPS also offers a job network to assist the general public in finding employment.

National Mental Health Association
The National Mental Health Association is the US oldest and largest nonprofit organization addressing all aspects of mental health and mental illness. With more than 340 affiliates nationwide, NMHA works to improve the mental health of all Americans, especially the 54 million people with mental disorders, through advocacy, education, research and service.

The Panic Anxiety Disorders Assoc provides telephone support, information and referral to services and self help groups and also offer panic anxiety management workshops and information sessions.

QLD Transcultural Mental Healt
The Queensland Transcultural Mental Health Centre provides resources for working with people from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds. Services include clinical consultation, education and training, health promotion library resources and policy and service development. The Centre also provides referral to appropriate mental health workers for people from different ethnic backgrounds.

Schizophrenia Fellowship
The Schizophrenia Fellowship of Queensland Inc. provides services and support to people living with schizophrenia and other serious mental illness, and their family members. Services include: * Information and referral * Community education * Bi-monthly newsletter * Research promotion and funding * Social and prevocational rehabilitation * Social support and recreational activities * Lifestyle support (Individualised) * Accommodation support * Support groups Application forms are available for all support services. Services are located in specific geographical areas across South Queensland; not all services are available in all areas. Social Anxiety Australia
Social Anxiety Australia is a non-profit service that provides information, education and support to people who live with Social Anxiety Disorder in Queensland and around Australia. Social Anxiety Disorder is a fear of negative evaluation, which results in high levels of anxiety, avoidance and isolation. Stepping Stone
Stepping Stone is a private non-profit, psychosocial rehabilitation organisation where adults with a mental illness join together to give each other mutual support as they work to rebuild their confidence, self esteem, social and vocational skills. Stepping Stone is a voluntary program whose basic philosophy is that, regardless of the level of disability, each participant (known as a Member) has a contribution to make. Stepping Stone consists of a pre - vocational work ordered day, social and recreational activities and an employment program that utilises Members' talents, skills and strengths. Membership of Stepping Stone service is free.

Victorian Transcultural Psychiatry Unit
The VTPU was established in 1989 within the Office of Psychiatric Services, State Government of Victoria. Its mission is to facilitate the improvement of mental health services for members of culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) communities. It is a statewide service which evolved from a small clinical service to a service which supports area mental health services and psychiatric disability support services in working with CALD communities throughout Victoria.

Womens Psychotherapy
Womens Psychotherapy Service offers an initial consultation and assessment, and referral to an appropriate therapist, psychiatrist or other professional service according to the needs of the client. The Psychotherapy Service provides short-term counselling and psychotherapy for an agreed number of sessions. Other services offered include ongoing or intensive psychotherapy, group psychotherapy, supervision, training and consultation to other workers and organisations. Fees are charged on a sliding scale. The WPS also sponsors the Group for Women with Advanced Breast Cancer, a weekly professionally led group offering support to women and their families throughout Queensland, which incorporates a teleconference link to allow rural women and sick women to access the group.
