Welfare Services 
139 Club
The 139 Club is a drop in centre for the homeless or anyone experiencing difficulties in their lives. The club aims to provide a better quality of life for the homeless, destitute and socially isolated people. The club offers a wide range of services. Breakfast and lunch are served weekdays at a minimal fee. Free soup is available at meal times and free tea and sandwiches are available at morning and afternoon tea times. Free lunch is available on weekends. Other services available include showers, laundry facilities, free second hand clothing, counselling, medical services, emergency relief, recreational activities, rest and storage facilities and a mailing address for those with no fixed address. Medical, chiropractic and massage clinics. Housing worker. Support groups. Musical Group.

Aboriginal & Islander Co-Op
Aboriginal and Islander Co-op Society - Gladstone provides assistance with housing, welfare and aged services such as Home and Community Care (HACC) to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.

Acacia Ridge Community support
Community Support provides emergency relief for those in the local area including, but not limited to, food vouchers on Monday and Thursday mornings. The service also provides a community employment assistance program, a tenancy advice service and a community development program. A Stroke Support Group meets each Monday from 10-12noon and provides activities.

Acro - General
ACRO offers welfare and housing support for families, ER funding for rent relief, gas / electricity and food vouchers. Priority given to families of prisoners. Clients should contact the Housing Support Worker on Tuesday or Thursday.

Adracare
ADRA is a community based organisation located throughout Queensland. ADRA offers emergency food relief and referrals. Each centre has various other options available.

Adracare - Brisbane - City
ADRACare is a community based organisation located throughout Queensland. ADRACare offers emergency food relief and referrals. ADRACare also offers counselling in the areas of Personal Grief, Family, Financial and Couple Counselling. This centre ONLY covers suburbs immediately surrounding the Brisbane CBD. Each centre has various other options available.

ADRACare - South Brisbane
ADRACare is a community based organisation located throughout Queensland. This centre ONLY covers Buranda , Stones Corner, Bulimba, Carina and Coorparoo areas. ADRACare offers emergency food relief and referrals.

Brisbane faith centre
The Communi Care - David Boske Ministries organisation provides food and support services to families for a regular fee.

Burnie Brae
The Burnie Brae Social Support & Transport offer a range of support and transport are coordinated by Welfare Staff for seniors, frail aged and younger people with a disability. Clients are assessed for eligibility. Geographical boundaries vary for some services. Welfare and respite services cooperate to coordinate some services. Fees or client contributions generally apply. Social Support Services include: CHATS (Coordinated Home Aid and Togetherness Scheme), Saturday club, Movie club, Walking group/s, Carer support group, Younger disability group. Transport is provided locally for Burnie Brae activities, Appointments, Group shopping, Outing and Bus trips.

Cathay Club
The Cathay Community Association is a non-profit Chinese organisation providing the following activities: recreational and social events, English lessons, home care and aged care services, social welfare service, settlement information and referral, personal/group capacity building, information/advocacy workshop. The Cathay Computer Centre provides a friendly place for people aged 50 and over to learn computers and access the Internet at a low cost. The centre is entirely run by volunteers who are dedicated to promote multi cultural Australia.

Churches of Christ - Welfare
Family & Community Care Division is the Welfare Services Division of Churches of Christ Care in Queensland. Family & Community Care operates a range of services through Metropolitan and Regional Offices including:- * Assistance with Community Support * Emergency Relief * Branch Out Community (Cooroy) - Therapeutic Community for men recovering from alcohol and other drug dependence.

CityCare
Citycare Brisbane offers a range of support services including relief in the form of food parcels, groups offering personal development programs and counselling. Citycare also provides a free sausage sizzle on Tuesday evening from 5 - 7pm, and a church service followed by a free homestyle cooked lunch on Wednesdays at 12 noon. Citycare Brisbane runs a number of breakfast clubs in primary and high schools across the city.

Comm Supp Program
The Community Support Program offers crisis counselling, emergency relief such as food and petrol, individual and family support, parenting courses, support groups and volunteer home visiting to provide emotional and practical support to families.

Community Care Southside
Southside Community Care offers short term emergency accommodation for families who are homeless or at risk of being homeless. Support workers assist families to return to independent living.

Community Centre - Capalaba
The Redland Community Centre has offices at Capalaba and Cleveland. The centre offers to the community a wide range of individual and family support services including support, crisis intervention, time limited generalist counselling, education courses and information including referrals, self help and support groups, advocacy, liaison, social networks and community development. The centre also provides emergency relief. Several support groups run from the centre including Bayside Legal Service, a 40+ women's interaction group, a birth mothers support group, a men's support group, a Fibromyalgia support group and University of the Third Age. Courses are run on a variety of topics including alternative health, assertiveness training, parenting, coping with everyday stress, self esteem, women's health, life skills for men, relaxation, meditation, crafts and cooking. The centre also conducts a Toddler Tactics course, which promotes parenting skills and establishes networks within the local community.

Community Centre - Cleveland
Redland Community Centre operates the Cleveland Centre which offers to the community a wide range of individual and family support services, including support, crisis intervention, time limited generalist counselling, education courses and information. The centre also provides emergency relief. Several groups and courses run from the centre including a parent support group and courses on divorce and separation, alternative health, assertiveness training, parenting, self esteem, women's health and craft.

District Comm Support
Community Support provides family support and emergency relief, home and community care, In Home-Respite for people with dementia, and disability assistance. Home Assist Secure programs for both the frail aged and disabled are available. A venue is available for hire.

Drought Hotline
The Department of Primary Industries is the lead government agency in providing assistance and drought information to Queenslands primary producers. DPI also provides advice to assist primary producers to prepare, manage and recover from drought. The DPI Drought Hotline handles referrals to other drought assistance programs, support services and climate information updates.

Ecumenical Coff
The Ecumenical Coffee Brigade supplies free of charge, on a daily basis, emergency relief in the form of sandwiches, fruit, tea and coffee at predetermined times and locations. These times and locations are as follows: 6.30am - Kemp Place (Opposite the Fire Station) 7.00am - Wickham Park (Opposite the Good Earth Hotel) 7.25am - South Brisbane (Kurilpa Point near Merivale Bridge) 7.45am - City Botanical Gardens (Near the River Stage).

Ecumenical Pant
The Ecumenical Pantry provides food vouchers and items of non-perishable food to people living in the suburbs of Red Hill, Paddington, Bardon, Milton, Mt Nebo, Auchenflower, The Gap, Ashgrove, Petrie Terrace, Toowong and Kelvin Grove. The Pantry is staffed by volunteers and is open on Mondays and Thursdays from 12noon - 2.45pm.

Family and Community Services
Lifeline Community Care provides support to Queensland through over 120 programs and services throughout the state. These programs and services are offered at twelve Lifeline Centres in Queensland, located at Brisbane, Bundaberg, Caboolture, Cairns Region, Central Qld (Rockhampton), Darling Downs & South West Qld (Toowoomba), Fraser District (Maryborough/Harvey Bay), Gold Coast, Ipswich & West Morton, Mackay-Whitsunday, North Queensland (Townsville) and Sunshine Coast, as well as through the following services. Families Plus: These programs work with children and families who have experienced harm or abuse. This includes programs which accept referrals from the Department of Child Services Queensland; shared family care, residential care, family therapy, parenting groups and in-home support, as well as women's refuges which respond to women and children who have experienced domestic violence and support accommodation service for families who are homeless or at imminent risk of homelessness. Children's Services: Child care for preschool age children is provided. Care is provided for children in child centres as well as family day care. In addition to this, we provide support resources and training to Commonwealth approved child care services to assist them to include children with diagnosed disabilities and children undergoing assessment. Disability Services: Support is provided for people with a disability, including residential lifestyle support, community linking and participation, community outreach, shared family care for children and young people with disabilities and support for families of a child with a disability. Prisons - Counselling and support are given to prisoners and their families.

Foodbank
Foodbank Queensland is a non-denominational, not for profit organisation, supplying welfare agencies with surplus foods, donated by manufacturers and retailers. This food is then distributed to people in need of emergency food relief through these welfare agencies . Foodbank does not sell food to its clients (welfare agencies) but seeks a service fee to support overhead costs. Access to the Foodbank service is for welfare agencies only, not to the general public.

Liberty Care
Liberty Care operates a range of services including : * Emergency Relief Liberty Care provides families and individuals with material relief in the form of food parcels and an information and referral service - available Monday to Friday 9am to 3pm. Photo Identification is required. Applicants are advised to phone first to determine availability. * Counselling Areas of personal counselling include relationship and family issues, depression, grief, loneliness, self-esteem, substance abuse, budgeting, and spiritual issues. Applicants may phone 3290 2259 to book an appointment.

Lifeline - Chermside
Lifeline Chermside provides both counselling and community development services. The team offers a professional service to the residents of Chermside and adjacent suburbs. Services offered include: * Family counselling to assist with parenting concerns and relationship and behavioural problems between adults, teenagers and young children * Financial counselling to assist in a range of financial difficulties, including consulting with creditors where required, helping with budgets and assisting in the identification of all financial options available * Community workers complement and support the counselling services through a range of projects that assist the community to build capacity and resilience Counselling services are by appointment and are free, although a donation may be offered. Crisis counselling is available on the Lifeline National Crisis Counselling Line 24 hours a day.

Lutheran Church Wynnum
The Good Shephard Lutheran Church at Wynnum offers welfare assistance in the form of food vouchers, chemist vouchers and some assistance with bills.

Mercy Family Services, Queensland

Sponsored by the Brisbane Congregation of the Sisters of Mercy, our organisation was formed in 1996 following the amalgamation of three formerly separate Sisters of Mercy programs providing services for children and young people at St Vincent’s, Nudgee; Fatima, Toowoomba and The Peace Centre, Goodna. Since that time, we have focused on building a strong identity, promoting community relationships and strengthening partnerships with funding bodies to enable the delivery of high-quality services to clients. Services include assessment, counselling and support for children and families subject to statutory intervention, family- and residential-based alternative care programs, education and life skills training for young people subject to statutory child protection and youth justice orders, counselling and support to young homeless people, or young people who are at risk of becoming homeless, counselling and support for young people who are refugees with few family or cultural connections in the community, counselling, relationship education and skills training groups for men in families, and work skills training in preparation for employment for young people in recovery from drug and alcohol abuse.


MICDA Inc. Home Skills Development Pilot Project

This pilot project aims to sustain tenancies by providing culturally appropriate home skills training to individuals and families 'at risk' of homelessness.


Mission Aust - Fortitude Valle
Mission Australia Community Cafe (formerly Brisbane City Mission) provides an affordable and comfortable environment for meals, desserts and drinks, as well as a health service provided on Wednesday mornings from 10.30am to 12.00pm. The Cafe also operates an intensive personal support program for identified clients. General welfare assistance is not offered through this service. The Cafe also provides a free legal service on Thursdays from 9.00am to 11.00am. No appointment necessary.

North East Comm
The North East Community Support Group provides supported accommodation for families at risk of homelessness, organised activities and information for young people and a general counselling service. Community Support groups that are provided include: * Brisbane Seniors On Line (BSOL) * Zillmere Older Women's Network (ZONE) * Zillmere Art Group (ZAG) * Children of Deaf Adults (CODA) * Mobile Playgroup run by Save the Children * North Brisbane Lace Makers * Amateur Theatre Group (BEAUBELL) * Mental Health Group (GROW) Zillmere Community Centre offers a range of information and referral sources, activities and group meeting space.

Operation Care
Operation Care offers food parcels, clothing and limited emergency assistance. Family counselling services are also offered in addition to support groups, educational programs, youth groups and individual self help groups.

Smith Family - Welfare
The Smith Family Emergency Support Program aims to build relationships and collaborative partnerships to meet client's needs and attempt to reduce duplication of services. - Clothing Assistance: Clothing may be available to eligible clients who are in a crisis and live within the Brisbane area. - Telstra Bills: Clients who live within the Brisbane area and who are experiencing difficulties paying a Telstra account, may be eligible for assistance (not available for mobile phone accounts). - Referrals to and negotiation with agencies and services appropriate to clients needs. - Limited food assistance may be available.

South Bris Community Care
South Brisbane Community Care offers a community kitchen that operates Sunday nights only, the centre has a bus that picks up clients from the Valley and Woolloongabba areas to transport them to the centre. The Kitchen offers an atmosphere of friendship and support in addition to providing food. The service also provides food parcels, furniture and clothing, counselling and referral services and financial assistance. The Centre also operates an op shop.

St Patricks Ca
Care and Concern provides emergency relief.

St Peters Comm Serv
St Peters Community Service provides assistance with food vouchers and will assist with medical, rent, electricity and various other emergency payments. Clients must have either a Centrelink or Health card and have proof of crisis. The service is restricted to residents of Tingalpa, Wynnum, Lota, Manly, Lytton, Hemmant and Lindum. Clients must produce current pension or health card or Centrelink referral as proof of identity and residence. St Peters Community Service Fund also operates a No Interest Loan Scheme, which is available to low income earners, or people with a health care card in St Peters service area. The loans are available as an alternate form of credit for the purpose of purchasing necessary household equipment (whitegoods etc) and medical equipment. The service is available on the first Thursday of each month and can only be accessed by phone contact only (33 487 598) between 9.00am and 11.00am.

St V de P
Saint Vincent de Paul is an International Catholic charity that focuses on the spiritual enrichment of its members. The parish groups are called "conferences" and they have weekly meetings which are prayerful times to support each other and to discuss home visitations. Each conference has individual times/days to make visits: * Home visitations to assist people with material/financial issues when requested. * When asked to visit a client they assist where they can and encourage them to take control of their own lives when their situation has improved. * St Vincent de Paul liaises with many government (esp. Centrelink) and non government organisations during any one day (conferences do the same at their local level). * Volunteers are trained to take personal details etc in a non-judgemental, caring way, and to inform clients that a visit will be made as soon as possible by the volunteers. * The assistance offered may not be what clients expect but what can be given. On weekends clients may leave messages on the call centre answering machine.

Uniting Church - Sandgate
The Uniting Church Sandgate Parish offers emergency relief to a maximum of $50 when funds allow. Food vouchers are available. Current identification, a health care card or concession card with current address is required. If these cannot be produced, then a referral from Centrelink is necessary. By appointment only.

Uniting Church Beenleigh
The Beenleigh Uniting Church offers a warm, caring community where people can worship God, make new friends and grow spiritually. It provides material aid to people in crisis, a Grief Recovery program for the bereaved and personal support.

Victory Nundah
The Drop In Centre offers free tea and coffee, a relaxed atmosphere with videos, books, games, pool table and friendly volunteers for a chat. Emergency Relief food parcels and utility vouchers are available for eligible clients Tuesday to Thursday from 10am to 3pm. Assistance with community information, referrals and advocacy is also provided. A community kitchen (free lunch) is offered every Tuesday and Thursday from 12.30pm to 2pm at the North East Baptist Church.

Victory Taigum
Victory Community Services - Taigum offers professional counsellors at very reasonable rates for individuals, couples and families. Workshops and support groups are held for a range of issues including self-esteem, recovery from childhood physical, sexual or emotional abuse and family dysfunction, relationship issues such as co-dependency and boundaries. Various life skills courses are offered including Living Well On Little, 4S Literacy, parenting and relationship education.

Wandarrah Community Centre
The Wandarrah Community and Neighbourhood Centre offers emergency relief (when funds are available), food vouchers, rent and utilities assistance, advocacy, mediation and counselling.

Wesley Mission Brisbane
Wesley Mission Brisbane is committed to the area of aged care and community services. Emergency relief is offered in the form of food parcels and other financial assistance such as food vouchers may be arranged by appointment, if funds allow.

Yulu-Burri-Ba Aboriginal Corp
The Yulu-Burri-Ba Aboriginal Corporation for Community Health provides a medical centre, a women's health service, a diabetes program, emergency relief, counselling, a naturopath, a drug and alcohol counsellor and dental and eye clinics.
