Welcome to ACROSSnet - Australians Creating
Rural Online Support Systems.
The ACROSSnet web site
provides a comprehensive online resource for Australians
looking for information in relation to suicide and suicide
prevention. The resources available here are of three
types:
- Documents (books, fact sheets, journals,
web sites etc.)
- Services (counseling, disability
services, crisis management etc.) and
- Organisations (Kids Help Line, Lifeline,
Centacare etc.)
In addition to the provision of this
quality, evidence based information, the ACROSSnet site
aims to provide opportunities for community professionals
(any person who works in a volunteer or paid capacity
providing services to the general community - for example,
police, youth workers, school counselors and social
workers) and mental health workers who may have a professional
interest in suicide and suicide prevention to interact
and network in order to provide and receive professional
support and development.
Workers who become registered members
of the ACROSSnet web site are able to:
- Participate in discussion forums
with other people working in the area of suicide and
suicide prevention;and
- Participate in scheduled online chats
with experts in the field
