| The Victims Counselling and Support Services (VCSS) is provided by Relationships Australia and is funded through the Queensland Government Department of Communities for the people of Queensland.
VCSS provides a 24 hour telephone referral service and information line for those affected by crime. In addition, we provide a range of counselling and support services to assist people whose lives have been impacted by crime to try to resume their lives.
Counsellors are qualified and experienced in providing support to people affected by crime and have received training specific to VCSS. In addition, all services are provided under strict ethical and confidential guidelines ensuring the privacy of all who access the service.

| Community Health services vary from centre to centre and include family health services, mental health services for children, youth and adults, oral health services for eligible clients, child development services, child health services, HACC, community health nursing services and confidential counselling. Referrals to self-help groups and health welfare services, drug education and drug dependence programs may be available. Physiotherapy, occupational therapy and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander services may also be available.
Some Community Health Centres offer access to Home and Community Care (HACC) programs. HACC programs are a joint state and federal government initiative which provides frail aged people and people with a disability access to practical services which assist them to continue living in their own home. Support services are also available for carers. Services which may be available to eligible clients include domestic assistance, social support, home nursing and personal care, respite care (in home and centre - based), home maintenance or minor modifications, allied health services (such as podiatry, dietetics, physiotherapy and speech pathology) and referral to other support services where needed (such as Meals on Wheels). Fees apply to certain HACC services, but special arrangements may be made for people who cannot afford these costs. |

| As part of the Acute and Community Mental Health Service, CYMHS provides a specialised mental health service for children and youth up to 18 years of age, who are at risk of developing or are experiencing severe and complex emotional and behavioural disorders and are living in the Toowoomba Health Service District.
CYMHS is a secondary referral service and as such requires a referral from a health professional, school guidance officer or other counsellor. In cases of acute need, parents or the young person can access the service directly.
It is essential that the family and as appropriate, the young person is aware of the referral. In situations where consent is not given, the referring person can discuss this with the CYMHS intake officer to determine how the referral can be facilitated.
CYMHS staff are rostered for intake duty and can be contacted by phone between 8.30am and 4.30pm. If at this time the young person is not considered appropriate for the service, a staff member will facilitate any referral to another agency as appropriate.
Following acceptance by CYMHS a case member is allocated who will make contact with the young person / family, the referring agent and other people involved in the young person's life or treatment, with written consent from the young person or the parent / carer.
The team includes a child Psychiatrist, Medical Officer, Psychologists, Mental Health Nurses, Social Workers, a Speech Pathologist and an Occupational Therapist. Case management is provided by the staff member most appropriate for the young person's difficulties and treatment will be either provided or facilitated by the case manager.
Treatments may include specific psychological or psychiatric treatments, individuals or family counselling, crisis intervention, community liaison and education. A 6 bed inpatient unit provides acute hospital care.

| The Logan-Beaudesert Mental Health Service offers free and confidential specialised services to individuals who are suffering from mental disorders and serious mental health problems in the Logan-Beaudesert Health Service District. The aim of the service is to promote, improve and maintain the mental health of people in the District.
Care is prioritised to those who have serious illness, and suffer the greatest disability and handicap. Acceptance for treatment is a clinical decision based on an individual assessment by a Mental Health Professional and discussed with the multidisciplinary team.
The team of mental health professionals offers psychiatric assessment, design and implementation of treatment therapies, case management, crisis intervention and community liaison and education.
The service will not accept individuals for treatment whose primary problems are alcohol or drug abuse, intellectual disability, relationship problems.
The mental health service provides assessment and treatment for the full range of mental health diagnosis including schizophrenia, paranoid psychosis, drug induced psychosis, bipolar mood disorder, major depression, dysthymia, severe anxiety adjustment disorder and personality disorder.
Mental health assessments can be accessed through a number of service sites. During normal working hours, people can access the service through the Community Mental Health Services as well as Logan Hospital. Outside normal working hours, assessments are accessed through Logan Hospital Emergency Department.
Logan Central Community Adult Mental Health Service and Beenleigh Community Adult Mental Health Service are open between 8.30 am and 5.00 pm weekdays. They provide an assessment service, with referral to other agencies if necessary, case management including home visiting, psychiatric medical treatment and monitoring, liaison with other agencies, family education and support. The service is a multi-disciplinary with specific discipline therapies available.
The Child and Youth Mental Services provide community based services from 8.30 am to 5.00pm weekdays. It provides assessment and treatment for children young people (aged 0 to 18) whose disorders are sever and complex, or at risk of becoming so and whose needs cannot be met by other services. Family, school and other agency involvement is an integral part of the team's philosophy.
Currently Logan Hospital - Division of Mental Health has 40 adult beds and 10 adolescent beds to provide hospitalisation for people with acute mental health disorders.

This is a free service to women aged 40 years and over. Individual and group bookings are available and no doctors referral is necessary. Staff are available to speak free of charge to community and workplace groups upon request. The service is available in Bundaberg and Hervey Bay Monday to Friday and the relocatable service visits other communities. |

| MHATODS offers an integrated mental health and drug and alcohol service to young people detained in the Brisbane Youth Detention Centre (BYDC). Young people's involvement with the Service is voluntary and it offers them the same quality of professional services which would be available to their peers in the community. Uniquely in Queensland, it also offers both mental health and substance abuse treatment in one integrated service usually with the same therapist involved. Referral can be made by staff of BYDC, Child Safety Officers, Juvenile Justice workers, family members and Child and Youth Mental Heath Service workers.
MHATODS has a multidisciplinary team consisting of consultant psychiatrist, social work, psychology, indigenous health staff and admin support.
MHATODS has a strong commitment to ensuring clinical follow up where required for young people on their release from detention and has strong links with the Child and Youth Forensic Outreach Service whose role it is to facilitate that transition. |
