Detailed Resource Record for St V de P
St V de P
Saint Vincent de Paul is an International Catholic charity that focuses on the spiritual enrichment of its members. The parish groups are called "conferences" and they have weekly meetings which are prayerful times to support each other and to discuss home visitations. Each conference has individual times/days to make visits: * Home visitations to assist people with material/financial issues when requested. * When asked to visit a client they assist where they can and encourage them to take control of their own lives when their situation has improved. * St Vincent de Paul liaises with many government (esp. Centrelink) and non government organisations during any one day (conferences do the same at their local level). * Volunteers are trained to take personal details etc in a non-judgemental, caring way, and to inform clients that a visit will be made as soon as possible by the volunteers. * The assistance offered may not be what clients expect but what can be given. On weekends clients may leave messages on the call centre answering machine.
